“Citizen science creates a nexus between science and education that, when coupled with emerging technologies, expands the frontiers of ecological research and public engagement.”
— Greg Newman, scientist at Colorado State University
Above is a glimpse of our photo monitoring map with locations throughout California that coastal agencies have requested to be monitored during the King Tides events.
How to get involved?
– Check out our official Citizen Science Program page for detailed directions on how to participate. Pick a location from the map that you would like to visit or that’s nearby. Make sure you check the weather conditions and let someone know where you are going. Don’t forget to upload your photos to the flickr account. Have fun and enjoy the king tides!
– If you are interested in making this a group outing with family, friends or your class, check out our Group Project page for ideas.
– If you have any other fun ideas let us know and we will add them for everyone to enjoy!
